April 18, 2019 -May 7 is World Asthma Day

As PrecISE makes progress towards implementing an investigational clinical study on severe asthma, World Asthma Day is the perfect time to reflect on the people who are discovering more about severe asthma.

World Asthma Day was first observed in 1998 to raise awareness of the impact asthma has on the population. According to the CDC, one in 13 people have asthma, and up to 10 percent of those people live with severe asthma.

Research participation is vital in gathering more information about asthma. Additional knowledge is gained about specific treatments and the way an individual responds to those treatments. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recognizes PrecISE in its asthma research portfolio, since PrecISE is funded by the NIH’s National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

As PrecISE grows, we recognize the impact every research participant brings to asthma research as a whole. A video from the NIH highlights the significant impact that research participants bring to NIH clinical studies. Watch it here to learn more.
