April 16, 2019 -PrecISE Introduced to Allergy Researchers at Event for Professional Medical Providers

In February, PrecISE researchers Loren Denlinger (MD, PhD), Lisa LaVange (PhD), and Rosalind Wright (MD, MPH) led a symposium at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology’s (AAAAI) Annual Meeting in San Francisco. The topic was precision medicine in asthma, with a focus on introducing the PrecISE network.

Precision medicine is an emerging disease treatment plan that is tailored to the patient's medical history, where they live, and other personal factors. Precision medicine will be used in the PrecISE asthma study to discover effective ways to treat people living with severe asthma, based on their type of asthma.

The presenters at the AAAAI symposium introduced the PrecISE study to attendees and how the study applies precision medicine to a clinical trial. For more on clinical trials, see the list of frequently asked questions.

The symposium topics and presenters from PrecISE were:

Precision Medicine in Asthma Therapy and the PrecISE Network
Presented by: Rosalind J. Wright, MD MPH

Statistical Considerations for Precision Adaptive Trials in Asthma
Lisa LaVange, PhD

Protocol Design and Implementation in the PrecISE Network
Loren Denlinger, MD PHD

There were also question and answer periods after each presentation.

The AAAAI is an international professional organization whose members include healthcare providers, allergists, immunologists, and other medical specialists. The organization has almost 7,000 members. See more at aaaai.org.
